This chess set will do the job for a beginner or where you want to keep an inexpensive chess set for the occasional game of chess such as the RV or vacation home. Pieces have a rustic Staunton design and are made from solid wood. The king is 3.75" tall with a base of 1.375" and will poperly fit boards with a 2" square. Pieces are weighted for stability on the chess board. A terrific chess set where you need just a basic chess set at an affordable price.
