I prefer the silicon board over the vinyl for personal preferences and feel, but the vinyl board is great for kids and for travel. It is durable and light weight and has made great gifts for the Holidays. I recommend it.
The size is perfect for the chessmen we also bought here. And the price was right. We bought 10 sets for Haiti, where we are teaching school children to play ...hoping to hold tournaments with them someday. The vinyl makes them perfect for our use. The kids can roll them up to carry in their back packs for practice at home. Unlike rigid boards or the folding cardboard ones they have now, they can roll up for easy transport in their back packs and can easily be wiped down if dirty. If our chess group grows, I will definitely be buying more of these!
