Our Saint John Staunton chess set blends traditional and contemporary for a unique and beautiful chess set. The knight has fine detail including a an ornate braided mane and finely detailed eyes, ears, nose, and mouth. The replication of the carvers work from knight to knight is remarkable. The king comes with two different crowns, a decorative formee cross and a finial that can be interchange according to the players preference. The other pieces are equally beautiful and consistent with the personality of this chess set.
The red sandalwood is gorgeous with a blend of rich colors that range from coral red to dark burgundy. The boxwood is beautifully grained and with the ideal medium amber color. These colors blend perfectly with the rich, beautiful colors of the African Paduak and the light amber color of the maple.
Our Deluxe Chess Coffer has two trays, each tray with 17 compartment for holding the 16 standard pieces plus 1 spare queen. The compartments are cushioned and the entire inside is lined with real billiard cloth to protect pieces from every getting damaged.
