This chess set package includes one of our most affordable and popular chess sets matched with a beautiful walnut folding chess case! Our German Staunton chess set with its old German Knight design is one of our original chess sets and continues to be extremely popular, especially in tournament chess. As you can see from our photo, the colors of the chess pieces and chess board are a perfect match and look beautiful together. As with most of our chess sets, 2 extra queens are included. The chess case is made from solid walnut, walnut and maple veneers. It opens up to a large 17.5" chess board with 1.875" squares. The perimeter of the board has a raised frame and an attractive inlay border surrounds the outside of the case. The inside is lined with a soft gold velour material. Strong magnets keep the case closed. An unbeatable value at this price!

I just received my chess set (item#: SGS325VF). It arrived very quickly. Every piece has been nicely detailed and both colors; Golden Rosewood & Boxwood make it look beautiful and neat while I have it on display. The folding case makes it possible to store it as a book, however, it would have been much nicer if every single piece had its individual compartment so they don't move around once inside the case. I thought the folding chess set was excellent. Great wood, solid weight, pieces are perfect. The only downside is that when 'unfolded', the folding joint isn't as "tight" as I'd like it to be. A little gap is evident. Otherwise, this is a terrific item.
