From our Staunton by Design Collection, our Decorative Parker Staunton in burnt golden rosewood and boxwood offers a traditional Staunton chess set with a unique design and finish. It has a classic style with handsome knights that have the look and feel of the older Jaques designs. To create the black, chess pieces are actually burnt followed by the final carving and design work which creates a beautiful contrast in colors between the blackened areas and the natural golden wood colors underneath. Chess pieces are then finished in high gloss lacquer giving the chess pieces a glass-like finish. A wonderful set for a casual game of chess or tournament play. We recommend a board with a 2" square(not included). (*Does Not Include Chess Board).

This is an excellent set for the price. The pieces are made with great detail and the quality is excellent. There is one tiny flaw on the white king: on the bottom of the cross-hatched pattern there is a small chip. The pieces are an excellent weight, and the shipping was fast, too.

Wow! I had bought the Burnt Boxwood and Boxwood version from a competitor and although the set was very nice, the pieces nicely weighted, the pawns had been a little bit of a let down as them seemed to small and light. When I saw the Burnt Rosewood version and The Chess Store I liked the contrast of the light and dark pieces better and decided to buy the set expecting no difference regarding the pawns, but, surprise surprise the pawns are much beefier and truly match the rest of the set perfe...

This set was beautifully finished and I am quite pleased with the product. I was mildly disappointed in that the rosewood bishops had several spots in the finish that appeared to be small bubbles. Tho not very noticeable, I expected a flawless finish. Overall, I would recommend to anyone desiring to add an impressive set to their collection
