This highly decorative chess set is born from the original Pepys chess set produced in India in the early 1800s. An Anglo-Indian design, this chess set was originally made in ivory with one side stained a beautiful Indian green. Extraordinarily ornate and expertly carved, this chess set is more a piece of art more so than a traditional chess set for casual play. We have used camel bone instead of ivory and have incorporated a few very minor design changes to enhance the beauty while maintaining an almost exact replica of the original chess set. Only the best chess set craftsmen in the world produce these chess sets so only a handful of these chess sets can be made each year making this an excellent choice for collectors looking for unusual and historically interesting chess set.
