Pieces are made from an attractive glossy plastic that is durable and will stand up to the rigors of classroom use. But we'll replace pieces for free if ever needed. This set includes 2 spare queens for pawn promotion. A terrific chess set for the beginner or tournaments needing large quantities at an affordable price.

| If you want nice chess sets for a classroom or school chess club then I don't think you'll find better value than this. Under $5 for a 34 piece set of good quality, full size, weighted pieces! They are rugged but not completely unbreakable (don't assume you can drop them from a height onto a stone floor without damage).
