Your Question: Why is the price of this chess set just a little bit less than one that is completely finished?

Our Answer: There are a couple of reasons. First, boxwood is very expensive so having an all boxwood chess set compared to let's say, half boxwood and half golden rosewood, adds quite a bit of cost. Secondly, 95% of the work involved in making the chess set is done. An unfinished chess set doesn't save you a lot of money but it gives you the opportunity to create a unique and special chess set while having lots of fun doing it.
