This chess set package includes our French Lardy Staunton Chess Set in ebonized boxwood and boxwood matched with our Mahogany and Maple Chess Board with Molded Edge. As you can see from our photo, the black and boxwood chess pieces creates a beautiful contrast against the mahogany and maple colors of the chess board. Our French Lardy Staunton is a close replica of one of the chess sets once made by the Lardy Chess Company in France. Truly a classic and continues to be extremely popular with chess players. As with most of our chess sets, spare queens are included.

A definite buy recommendation. I am very pleased with the quality of the materials and workmanship. The weight of the pieces is good. The colors are uniform, and the white wood grain is pleasing to the eye. The knights are taller than I am accustomed to, (slightly taller than the bishops), but acceptable. It would not deter me from purchasing the set. A very good value for the price.
