The king is 3.5" tall with a 1.625" wide base and has a traditional formee cross. The bases of the pieces are heavily weighted for exceptional stability on the chess board. The bottoms of the pieces are padded with thick green baize for a nice cushion and easy sliding on the chess board. Pieces are individually hand polished to a beautiful luster. The chess board is nothing short of a fine piece of handmade furniture. Constructed from solid wood, it has 3 tiers rising up to the playing surface and elegantly molded edges.
