Our Deluxe Staunton chess set originates from the chess set once produced by Checkmate International for the prestigious John Jaques of London. A traditional Staunton design in every respect, this chess set design has become a standard that nearly every chess set manufacturer attempts to emulate. Our chess set is also made by Checkmate International and to the same stringent specifications as its earlier predecessor. These chess pieces are made in sheesham (golden rosewood) and boxwood and are hand polished to a beautiful luster. Chess pieces are triple weighted and have green billiard cloth pads.
