The Chess Store Deluxe Chess Coffer - Large (club size sets)

We put a lot of study and careful thought into developing our Deluxe Chess Coffer so that it would fit the largest club size chess sets and well beyond. We also wanted this coffer with features deserving of the finest chess sets such as our Alexander Staunton, so we went the extra mile and used high quality billiard cloth for the lining and the best quality hardware we could find.

Our Deluxe Coffer is the perfect way to store your prized chess set. It's not only a beautiful piece of furniture but it's the best way to store and protect your pieces. Our coffer has an upper and lower tray and we provide thick foam pads covered in billiard cloth that can be used hold the pieces in place when you close and lock the lid.

Made from solid hardwood and veneers, we stained this a deep mahogany cherry, it looks wonderful with any chess set or decor. The overall dimensions are 17" x 10 3/4" x 6 1/4".

Collectors will love this coffer and it is less expensive than smaller, cheaper versions sold by other stores. Below are the dimensions of our coffer so you can determine if it will fit your chess set:

It was very nice. It held my pieces comftoriably and the wood was good quality. I did see a gloss blob on the top but other than that, nice coffer.

Despite the thoughtful reviews about the size of the Chess Store's Deluxe Chess Coffer, I was still surprised at the bulk and heft of the coffer. It's certainly not something you would pack to a tournament, but it's perfect on my study shelf, keeping the dust from my chessmen. The coffer is very well made and the billiard cloth and foam padding are great for my precious chess pieces (and two queens per side). I certainly like it looks and functionality and it clearly will be a long-lasting....

It's bigger than you might think! Lay out the measurements of the box itself to see if it will fit where you intend to put it. That being said, it's a nicely finished box with a nicely felted interior ... perfect for the glossy and large metal chess set I have stored inside, the "King John" Brass set (it's a nice set, wonder why The Chess Store doesn't sell this one). It also has space for 2 queens, nice touch!
