The box is lined with a soft black material to protect the pieces and includes a removable center divider so that you can separate the colors if you choose. Very nice. It arrived wrapped in its own protective cloth. Corners were clean and the box unscratched. The wood is beautiful and will be a nice addition to the chess table.
