Our British Staunton draws inspiration from a vintage design originating from the old British Chess Company in the mid-1800s. Featuring a purely traditional Staunton design, the pieces are handcrafted from African padauk and boxwood and lacquer polished to a lustrous finish. This is a thirty-four-piece set that includes two extra queens for pawn promotion. The king is 3.5”-tall with base diameter of 1.5” making it the perfect pieces for your chess games at home. The pieces are heavily weighted for exceptional stability and have thick green baize pads on the bottom for a soft cushion on the chess board. We include a Certificate of Manufacturer so you will always know what the pieces are, when they were made, and where they came from.
