This chess set package includes our British Staunton Chess Set matched with a beautiful walnut folding chess case! Our British Staunton chess set originates from the old British Chess Company design from years past. This chess set features a sleek profile, beautifully carved knights that are smaller than any other chess set, and oversize pawns. An unusual but very popular combination that results in an exceptional chess set for both tournament play and a beautiful chess display! As you can see from the photo, the black ebonized chess pieces contrast beautifully against the walnut and maple of the chess board. As with most of our chess sets, 2 extra queens are included. The chess case is made from solid walnut, walnut and maple veneers. It opens up to a large 17.5" chess board with 1.875" squares. The perimeter of the board has a raised frame and an attractive inlay border surrounds the outside of the case. The inside is lined with a soft gold velour material. Strong magnets keep the case closed. An unbeatable value at this price!

Very nice (I don't regret talking myself out of the St George set). I'm a bit of a beginner but I'm looking forward to getting some practice in on this! Only issue is that the case has nothing to hold the contents still inside, but this isn't the set to buy if you want something you can throw in a rucksack, so not a major complaint.
