The Classic design has long been a standard for stone chess sets and continues to be popular today. The chess pieces have an attractive, rustic Staunton look with slightly exaggerated features that facilitate carving solid stone. Our Staunton model was created for the chess player and collector wanting a purely traditional Staunton chess set design. We patterned this chess set specifically for marble and onyx to capture as much shape and detail as possible in a material that is far more difficult to work with than wood.
